Pregnancy and Cravings

6 weeks pregnant - size of a sweet pea.

My hunger is out of control. I read up to see how many calories I should be consuming a day. It said I should consume the same amount as if I wasn't pregnant and in the second trimester I can add 100-300 calories a day. What!?!

I looked up pregnancy cravings. Thank God other women commented on their out of control habits too. I literally cannot go two hours without eating. I have gained 4 lbs in the last two weeks. One of the women commented how she gained 60 lbs during her pregnancy, but all the weight fell off in the first three months, so "don't worry about it". Seeing as I'm still sporting 20 lbs from my first pregnancy, I really don't want to blow up like a balloon (and I hate women like her).

I'm a comfort eater. I'm not a happy pregnant woman. I feel every cramp, upset stomach, bloatedness, etc. Food makes me feel better and helps settle my stomach. I'm trying better at being more preemptive and have healthier food available when I go on my rampage, but it's not easy. I had three samples of chocolate at Costco today (when I was just looking at plants) and I cracked open candy that I was going to give a friend for Christmas.

I feel like a higher protein diet should help me and STAYING AWAY FROM CHOCOLATE!

What do you do to curb your cravings?
